Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA) UIFSA was drafted in 1992 and then revised in 1996 and 2001 with changes in 2008. It limits the jurisdiction that can properly establish and modify child support orders and addresses enforcement. It required states to defer to child support orders entered by courts where the original child support ordered was filed. The Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act required compliance. Every state has adopted it.
